Sheng Ang, an Innovation Fellow with enFocus, recently accepted a position as a full-time Data Analyst with the Northern Indiana Hispanic Health Coalition (NIHHC), and a big part of this success is credited to DataCamp training and Sheng’s project work with NIHHC. According to Sheng, “out of all the data-related online courses and certification programs I’ve tried, DataCamp is the most user-friendly and effective.” DataCamp provides a specialized and comprehensive catalog of highly detailed courses taught by professional instructors. “I noticed DataCamp always stays on top of any changes in the data science world. They constantly update their courses to the newest and most relevant information and technology,” said Sheng. The courses are also highly versatile as they provide various popular programming language options within the data science field, such as SQL, Python, R, Git, Julia, etc. Sheng also found himself more engaged in completing the courses due to the clean and simple UI/UX design.
While pursuing the Data Scientist with Python career track, Sheng realized he was effortlessly applying his knowledge to improve the effectiveness of his day-to-day work on enFocus projects. “DataCamp prepared me to be more efficient in critical data analysis tasks such as data cleaning, data manipulation, and data visualization; it also taught me how to convey complicated data concepts to non-technical stakeholders,” Sheng said.
Adding to his credibility in the field, Sheng recently earned the Data Analyst Associate certification. “When I received my DataCamp certificate, I was immediately invited to join the exclusive DataCamp Certified Community, where I am able to connect with other certified learners and access exclusive content and career workshops. If any Fellow is considering pursuing a data career, I highly recommend taking advantage of enFocus’ partnership with DataCamp Donates and earning a certificate. It really is the best data-learning platform!” Sheng intends to complete all certifications available through DataCamp to improve his credibility in the data science industry.
Sheng is not the only learner at enFocus. Over the past six months, the enFocus team has earned nearly 250,000 XP and completed over 200 chapters and 45 courses through the DataCamp platform, all while working full-time as enFocus Fellows. When Fellows join enFocus, their experience with data ranges from a basic understanding of spreadsheets all the way to data science expertise. To help support Fellows with project assignments and professional development, enFocus offers lunch and learn training sessions and self-paced learning opportunities through a partnership with DataCamp Donates.
DataCamp Donates partners with community organizations, large and small, and gives them the tools to equip learners to learn data skills and get jobs. DataCamp Donates learners receive access to over 360 courses, certifications, tracks, competitions, and ready-to-use templates and datasets. DataCamp breaks down barriers to entry for those with limited resources who want to learn to code, get certified, and join the data science community.
enFocus’ commitment to providing cutting edge tools and learning opportunities are part of our commitment to our Fellows to not only ensure their success with projects, but support their skill development.
Keep following enFocus to learn more about Sheng’s use of his data science skills while working on his NIHHC project which ultimately landed him a job in the region.
